Nutritional Counseling
We live in a culture that severely underestimates the healing power of eating healthy with wholesome foods, proper diet, and exercise. I know that we would all love to take a pill or a shot to cure us of whatever ails us, me too! However, the reality is that not every malaise is curable in this way. I once found myself in the hospital with the best medical care in the world but dying of Hasimoto’s Thyroiditis with a chronic bowel obstruction. After years of drugs, hospitals and surgical treatment and a particularly bad period where I was comatose for weeks, the best that the good doctors and nurses could do was just barely keep me alive. I was very grateful for this but it wasn’t until I took charge of my health and began focusing on proper diet, exercise and spiritual alignment that I was able to thrive. Did I have to leave the mainstream of medical thought to begin my recovery?
Absolutely! Was it a scary process fraught with uncertainty and occasional disappointment? Yes. The good news was that I wasn’t alone. I have met and now have counseled with thousands of people that are on a similar journey. Everyone’s journey is unique. Let the trained and experienced nationalists and herbologists at LivingMom Birth assist you on your journey during your pregnancy. Educating yourself will be one of the best things you can do to stay focused. A good goal for me was trying to read a book a week. Be prayerful as you decide what books to read. Realize that not everything you read is for you but the more you learn the sooner you will be able to find what things will work for you.
Transitioning Tips

SUGAR
This is the first thing I cut out and I believe the most important. Cutting white sugar out of my diet 25 years ago was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! You will stop some strong food cravings just by doing so. Along with helping to regulate blood sugar. There are many, many books on the negative effects to the body and mind regarding sugar. One of my favorites but an older book is Sugar Blues, by William Dufty. Please take time to find as many books on the subject educate yourself on the addictive and harmful qualities of sugar. Replace sugar with honey, monk fruit, stevia or maple syrup.
WHITES
These include rice, breads, tortillas and pastas. White products have been stripped of their vital nutrients and fiber that can wreak havoc on your body and mind. Transition these with 100% whole wheat products or even BETTER….gluten free products. As time passes, you can make another transition moving into sprouted grains. Once again, read books discussing the side effects of processed foods. A good book is Beating the Food Giants, by Paul A. Stitt.
PASTEURIZED DAIRY PRODUCTS
Raw dairy is an ideal form of consuming dairy. It is MUCH more highly nutritive than pasteurized dairy. It is high in beneficial enzymes, diverse probiotics, healthy fats, protein and bioavailable vitamins, calcium, phosphorus and immunoglobins. Raw milk is the most similar in nutrients and other important factors as BREASTMILK! The book, The Untold Story of Milk, is an excellent resource to look more!
AVOIDANCE OF MEAT
There are wide variety meat products that are on the market today. Not all meat is the same! Most meat is factory farmed forced fed corn feed along with situated in close tight quarters which stimulates lots of antibiotics use to keep the animals from getting too sick. Grass fed beef is higher in many vitamins and minerals along with helping to reduce inflammation. There is LOADS of information online and in books that can teach you more on the amazing benefits of grass fed and free range meats.
