In January of 2001 I arrived on the path of health through nutrition by reading the book Sugar Blues. I immediately began my transition by eliminating refined sugar from my diet. Within six months I had eliminated all whites (milk, sugar, rice, flour). Within a year I was 100% vegan. My total transition time to raw food was eighteen months.
Looking back on my journey to this point, I do not know that I ever had in mind that I would be a raw or living foodist, or a vegan or vegetarian. I have eaten a 100% raw food diet for almost four years yet I am still transitioning. For me, it has been important to place my emphasis on the journey instead of the destination. My rule of thumb is to pay attention to the signals my body is constantly sending me in determining what I feed it. This takes place as I learn the difference between cravings and true hunger. By listening to those signals, I refuse to label myself, instead my goal is to be the healthiest person I can possibly be. I achieve this goal through constant education and daily meditation.
I would like to emphasize that it has, at times, taken my entire store of self discipline to stay on this path. If I have succeeded, it is because I have discovered a higher purpose along the way. God bless you, and may you find happiness in YOUR journey.
Hey Rach,
I love the website. I was actually looking at some “alternative medicine” stuff today. What’s your take on the National Center for Complimentary and Alternative Medicine? Looks like they’re really trying to bring in all the options for a healthy lifestyle. Also, good work on the disclaimer at the bottom of your website. who knows who would sue you because of what you post!!
Rachel, it seems it was just yesterday you were drinking in all the information you could possibly absorb as you watch me cure my cancer with this miracle of Raw Food world. You are an amazing individual to watch. Your committment, intelligence and passion has lifted you to be a beacon for so many. I hear of praises and love for your talent and service where ever I go and it makes me feel bless to know you and watch you in all your amazingness. I will never forget when I was so weak and often feeling overwhelmed with the fear of dieing and somehow transending from my cooked food world to the world of the Raw Food diet, you were one of my God sent angels who offered to make my Raw Food meals. In my most vulnerable times of my life you were there. It’s exhilerating to see, you did not stop there. Look at what you have unveiled from within. I love having the front row seat and agree with you, this site is first class and lends so much to what you are about. Congradulations! I have so much love and respect for you and am cheering you on. I am truly your great admirer.

Rach,
I also am very proud of you. You are so dedicated and I look up to you. Dan and I are your constant cheerleaders and wish you all the success you deserve in every aspect of your life… in your health and in your passions, and in your desire to share the knowledge you are gaining. You’ve been a good sister to me, and a better friend. I love you. The site is great.
I too am on a journey. I have been on and off raw food for about 2 years. My sister has been raw for 2 1/2 years, had a fabulous raw pregnancy and is breastfeeding 100% raw nutritious milk to her son. I look up to and admire her with all my heart. I believe in the power of raw foods and I look forward to following your journey as I follow my own.
